- Core 1-leaning labs
- Build or refurb a PC: RAM/storage swaps, BIOS/UEFI settings, boot issues
- Practice connector/cable identification (USB standards, video, storage)
- Home networking: set up a SOHO router, Wi-Fi security, DHCP vs static IP, basic port knowledge
- Virtualization: install VirtualBox/VMware Player, create a Windows + Linux VM, snapshot/rollback
- Core 2-leaning labs
- OS installs: Windows clean install + drivers, updates, user accounts, permissions
- Command line basics: file operations, networking checks, process/service tools

- Ticketing mindset: write “problem / environment / steps tried / fix / prevention” notes for everything you break & repair
VI. Renewal
CompTIA A+ is in the Continuing Education (CE) program: it typically renews on a three-year cycle. CompTIA lists CE fees for A+ as $75 total for the three-year renewal period.
VII. What to Do After A+
Common next steps after A+:
- COMPTIA Network+ (strong follow-up if you want IT infrastructure skills)
- COMPTIA Security+ (great if you want to lean toward security roles)
